Use the pricing calculator
The pricing calculator shows the exact price for your fleet before you pay. It always uses the current prices.
You'll find it in three places:
- the Pricing section of the landing page,
- step 2 of creating your account, and
- in the dashboard: on the Dashboard, click Pay Now, then Continue. This opens the Subscription page.
Who can do this in the dashboard: Admin
Get a price, step by step
Before you start, know three things about your devices: how many you'll connect, how many values each reading carries (for example temperature, humidity and battery is 3), and how often each device sends a reading.
- Work out your data points first. In the What is a data point? card, under Work out your data points, enter Values in each reading and choose how often Each device sends. The card shows about how many data points a month your devices need.
- Pick a plan. Click the plan card whose data points / month covers that number. If you're not sure, start with Starter. The calculator tells you later if it's too small.
- Set your devices. Under 2. Devices, enter how many devices you'll connect. The data-points card updates with the new count.
- Choose a term. Under 3. Term, choose 12 months, or 24 months to save 15% and lock the price.
- Check the data-points card again.
- That covers it. You're done. Go to step 6.
- Add N data packs means the plan is too small. Click it to add the packs, or pick a plan with more data points, or choose a slower Each device sends.
- Read your price. The Your price panel shows the monthly price, the total for the term, GST, and Total today, which is what you pay now.
- Buy. Click the button under the price. See Buy for what it says where you are.
Example: 25 temperature sensors
You have 25 sensors. Each reading carries temperature, humidity and battery, and they send every minute.
| You enter | Value |
|---|---|
| Plan | Starter |
| Devices | 25 |
| Values in each reading | 3 |
| Each device sends | every 1 min |
The card shows About 10.8 million data points a month (each reading counts 10). That's because every reading counts at least 10 data points: 25 devices × 10 × 43,200 readings a month.
Starter includes 10 million, so the card offers Add 1 data pack. You have three choices:
- Add 1 data pack to stay on Starter with every reading kept.
- Send every 5 min instead. That's about 2.2 million a month, which Starter covers.
- Move to Growth, which includes 100 million a month and keeps 24 months of history.
Pick one, then check Your price and buy.
What each part of the calculator does
1. Plan
Click a plan card. Each card shows the plan's data points a month, its history or device limit, and what it includes. See Plans and pricing for how the plans compare.
- Free trial: no price to work out. The price panel shows what the trial includes.
- Enterprise: the price panel explains that it's quoted for you.
2. Devices
Set how many devices you'll connect. Use − and +, or type a number.
The count starts at the plan's minimum. If you go below it, the calculator tells you, keeps the minimum, and offers a smaller plan that fits your number if there is one.
You can add more devices any time after you buy.
3. Term
Choose 12 months or 24 months. The 24-month term is 15% cheaper, and the price is locked for the whole term.
4. Extra data (optional)
Add data packs if your devices need more data points each month than the plan includes. Each pack adds 10 million data points every month. Leave it at 0 if the plan's allowance is enough.
Not sure? Use Work out your data points below.
Your price
The panel beside the plans (or under them, on a narrow screen) updates as you change anything:
| Line | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Price / month | Your monthly price |
| Devices | The devices you're billed for, per month. If you chose fewer than the plan's minimum, a note says the minimum is billed. |
| Data packs | Your packs, per month, if you added any |
| Term | The total for the 12 or 24 months |
| Discount | The 24-month discount, if you chose it |
| GST (18%) | Tax on the term total |
| Total today | What you pay now, for the whole term |
Under the total, the panel says how many data points a month and how many months of history are included.
Work out your data points
The What is a data point? card under the price works out how many data points your devices will use:
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Devices | Filled in from step 2. For the free trial and Enterprise, type it here. |
| Values in each reading | How many metrics each reading carries, for example 3 for temperature, humidity and voltage |
| Each device sends | How often: every 30 s, 1 min, 5 min, 15 min or 1 h |
It then shows about how many data points a month that is, and either That covers it. or an Add N data packs link that adds the packs you need.
Every reading counts at least 10 data points, so a reading with 3 values is counted as 10.
If your devices need more data points
When you buy a plan whose data points won't cover your devices, the calculator tells you how many your devices need and offers a choice:
- Add data packs: adds the packs that cover the difference.
- Send data every … instead: a slower reporting interval that fits the plan.
- Move to a bigger plan that includes enough data points.
- Talk to us about Enterprise: when no plan is big enough.
- Continue anyway: buy as it is. Once the month's data points run out, history slows to one reading per device every 5 minutes. Live data and alerts are never slowed.
